Support us

We are organising as a community and we believe that we will win, but we need your support to protect our neighbours from eviction, exploitation and greed.

Donate to our fundraiser

You can donate directly to the Tenants Association. This will go towards our ongoing costs and towards a legal fund.

Sign our petition

We’ve made a petition with the following demands:

  1. Make a public statement in support of the residents.
  2. Immediate Health & Safety Audit with resident & union involvement.
  3. Reject all property licence applications from BMR/Freshview, including HMO and selective licences, on the grounds that they do not meet the standard of a “fit and proper person” required to manage residential accommodation.
  4. Seek a banning order against BMR preventing it from operating in the residential property sector.
  5. Use all available enforcement powers, including seeking inclusion of BMR on the National Database of Rogue Landlords where appropriate.
  6. Exclude BMR/Freshview from all current and future Council contracts, procurement processes, partnerships, and housing scheme
  7. Provide free, independent legal advice and support for all affected tenants.
  8. Support the St James Tenants’ Association’s demand for the estate to be brought into public ownership, securing genuinely affordable homes for current and future residents.

Email our politicians

You can help us by:

  • Contacting Southwark Council to demand enforcement against BMR Group & Freshview Estates
  • Contacting our MP for Bermondsey & Old Southwark, Neil Coyle, to demand that he goes to central government to ask for emergency powers to take our estate off the private rental market.
